Update FAQ

What is an an update good for?

An update usually fixes severe bugs in stable VnTeX releases. In some cases it adds new features, though this will happen only if we think that they are very important.

When do I need an update?

Look at the description below in order to find out what the update is good for. Maybe you don't need it at all.

You don't need it if you are using a newer version of VnTeX than the version the update is made for.

If you prefer to use beta versions make sure you have the latest one. If the beta version you are using is newer than the update you do not need the update.

How can I find out which version of VnTeX I have?

The first line of the file .../doc/generic/vntex/vntex.txt contains the version number.

How can I install an update?

To install the updates, unpack the ZIP file in the base directory of the vntex tree.

To find out what the base directory is, type kpsewhich vietnam.sty. The base directory is the directory which contains tex/latex/vntex/vietnam.sty
